Each room needed a different storage solution. The kitchen shelves were made from twelve-inch wide steel plate, wide enough for dishes to fit, while the hallway shelf system was made more narrow (at six inches wide) to not be so intrusive. Both shelf systems were welded to hidden steel supports inside the wall, bolted to the studs. The end result is a floating shelf that looks clean and simplistic. The bookshelves in the study were constructed out of steel angle supports and finished plywood for a warmer and more rustic look.
